Paris Lives Here - Questionnaire

The lovely and charming Nicola from Paris Lives Here tagged me in a rather cute questionnaire and I thought it only right to follow suit. (photo belongs to my best friend Greer)

1) Why did you start blogging?
I originally started a wedding blog last year called ‘Life According to Lulu’ charting all the progress and creative whims that possessed me leading up to my wedding (yes I was possessed a lot). It was also a way to share my excitement with my bridesmaids and friends. However after the wedding I felt I really wanted to continue with a blog charting all my little incoherent ramblings. It just happened that at the same time I was developing an interest in photography. Now I have always been interested in photography, that goes without saying - I studied it at uni - but I had never taken the time to truly master it technically. So I went out as often as I could with my husband’s D40 and just fell deeper and deeper in love with the medium. Hence ‘Lulu and the Locket’ was born, a rare hybrid of my inner voices and photographic viewpoint on the world. The locket btw was a present my husband gave me on our wedding day and kind of symbolizes my life after getting married..I know cheesy, but I love it....

2) Do you prefer Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter?
I love Spring. Spring to me is so visually stunning, all my favourite flowers come out and one has all the anticipation of the Summer to come! Then again I love Autumn/Winter too, simply because I get to wear my 14 pairs of boots and you can’t beat the old faithful glass of wine by a log fire – so hard to choose, maybe I’m undecided.....

3) What do you notice first: Smokey eye make-up or bright lips?
Smokey eye make-up, I’m all about the eyes!

4) Who are your style icons?
Louise Brooks, Audrey Hepburn, Edie Sedgewick, Coco Chanel, my great aunt Hazel and my best friend Greer.

5) Describe your personality in 3 words.
Ahh difficult, there are so many words – okay just 3 – here it goes (start with the worst first): stubborn, passionate & girly

6) If you had to leave the house with only one item of make-up what would it be?
Okay I am all about the eyes but if I had to choose ONE thing, it would have to be my concealer, to make sure my skin tone was even.

7) Which era do you think influenced fashion the most?
You know as much as I think the 60’s were hugely influential, I happen to think the 20’s got the bowl rolling and set every other fashion movement in motion. It just broke all the rules didn’t it - women started showing a bit of leg!

8) What beauty item do you always repurchase?
I have a few, but I would say my Maybelline Black Volume Mascara is probably the longest staple purchase I have. I’ve tried nearly every brand, expensive and super cheap and always come back to this old faithful – have been using this for 14 years now!

and so I pass this on to some other darlings:

Meg - Bow Ties are Cool
Amber Rose - Laughing With Broken Eyes
Jasmine - The Girl with Kaleidoscope Eyes
Kaya - Monpti Parapluie
Lady Fashionista - Fashionista on Tour

Love & Marriage! (click to see large)

Summer's End

Goodbye oh sweet smell of compost & beer,
Goodbye to my legs laid bare without fear,
Goodbye to the Morris people's bells and their cheer,
Goodbye to the long journeys with the wind in my ear,
So goodbye my sweet friend, at all times you were dear,
And I do hope you come back a little sooner next year.......
